St. John the Baptist Parish is part of the Mid-Mon Valley Region of Faith, Family and Discipleship, a collaborative community of seven parishes working together to support the spiritual life of the faithful. The region includes Epiphany of Our Lord in Monessen, Holy Family in West Newton, Saint Anne in Rostraver, Saint Cecilia in Grindstone, Saint John the Baptist in Perryopolis, Saint Peter in Brownsville, and Saint Sebastian in Belle Vernon.
The region is under the guidance of Adelle Slebodnik, Regional Director of Faith Formation and Discipleship, and Maureen Ruschak, Regional Coordinator. Together, they guide a unified mission of evangelization, catechesis, and discipleship across all seven parishes.
A wide variety of formation opportunities are offered for individuals and families at every stage of faith. These include Sacramental Preparation for Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation, and Marriage; Traditional Formation for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade; and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, an experiential Montessori-based approach for children ages 3 through 4th grade. The region also provides Youth Ministry for Grades 6–12, Young Adult Ministry for ages 18–40, and a diverse range of Adult Formation programs.
OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) and OCIY (Order of Christian Initiation of Youth) are programs that run throughout the year for those who want to enter full faith with the Catholic Church.
In addition to regional offerings, the Diocesan Office of Faith, Family and Discipleship provides year-round opportunities such as Know Him, PAX Middle School Retreats, and Kerygma evangelization experiences. The diocese also offers Pathways, a yearlong adult faith-enrichment series, and Enlighten!, a two-year graduate-level program through the Institute for Ministry Formation at Saint Vincent Seminary.
